Export of agricultural products from Ukraine to the EU exceeded $ 5.2 billion over 11 months of 2017

The foreign trade turnover between Ukraine and the EU countries, by the results of January-November 2017, increased by 31.1% or by $ 1.715 billion, compared to the same period in 2016, and amounted to $ 7.2 billion.

At the same time, the export of agrarian and food products from Ukraine to the EU countries increased by 38.2% or $ 1.4 billion compared to 2016 and amounted to $ 5.2 billion.

This was told by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on Eurointegration Olha Trofimtseva. She stressed that for the entire 2016 Ukrainian agrarian exports in the EU country amounted to $ 4.2 billion.

"We are pleased to note that the agreement on the free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU is working, and this is reflected in specific figures for the growth of our bilateral trade turnover in the agrarian and food sectors. We also hope that this positive trend will continue in the future, taking into account our active work in bringing the Ukrainian legislation closer to EU standards, " says Olha Trofimtseva.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the most commodity groups that Ukraine exported to the EU during this period were grains ($ 1.4 billion), oil ($ 1.3 billion) and oilseeds ($ 0.9 billion).

"Along with these traditional export products, we have significantly increased the export of such products as malt extracts, flour products, cereals (by $ 31.7 million), bakery products, confectionery products (by $ 15.4 million), butter ($ 12.4 million), casein ($ 11.9 million), chocolate and other products containing cocoa (by $ 7.9 million), etc., " says Olha Trofimtseva. 

According to the deputy minister, the top five countries that bought Ukrainian agrarian products in the EU for the period were the Netherlands with a share of 18.4%, Spain - 14.4%, Poland - 13.3%, Italy - 11.8%, Germany - 10.3%.
